y’all please read the baau masterpost, like actually read it, not asking bc i want you to know all the intricacies of the lore, but because i want you to read the rules to know what is and isn’t okay. such as making baau character ai. please don’t ask me about making a baau character ai when i have made it expressly clear that I am thoroughly against it.
#cjj sayeth#im addressing a small minority here btw i know most ppl understand this full well#but when i see proof that people didn’t read any of my rules or express no-nos then i get irked#like please read ok

Hell Followed With Us by Joseph Andrew White mini review
What I liked:
Complex relationships
Fast-paced
It's gory
What I didn’t like
Repetitive inner monologues
Weak side characters
Overall, it was one of the best ya books I read in a while. It’s violent and cruel, and it doesn’t shy away from difficult topics. Recommending for anyone looking for a horror book!
#and maybe this is a me thing but i couldn't picture the monsters and the world for most part of the book#gimme some good descriptions!!#books#booklr#book photography#hell followed with us#o inferno que nos persegue#andrew joseph white#ya horror#ya books#queer books#queer ya#horror#read in 2024#50 days of booklr#the refuge's reviews#books and coffee#book reviews#the refuge of books

Totally get why fromsoft would use not grammatically accurate latin lyrics for their songs because. Meter Shenanigans. But also as someone who chews it. It kinda hurts
#WHAT THE FUCK DOES NOS DESTINATAE MATRIBUS#thecnically the translation should be 'us once destined to be mothers' but with the matribus its more#'us destined to the mothers'#actually tho the general grammar ignoring that is top notch#i especially love the fact that they used the mediopassive forms of some verbs to make it flow better#and the fact that they pronounce it with the proper classical pronunciation#<-scarred soul of a girl who got yelled at because she read CICERO OUT OF ALL AUTHORS using the actual classical pronunciation#and not the ecclesiastical one

you can vote in this if you don't speak french btw. roman=novel, scénario=screenplay, poésie=poetry, pièce de théâtre=play, dictionnaire des synonymes=thesaurus, ouvrage de référence=reference work, roman-mémoire=autobiographical novel
#je sais que grand'chose s'écrit avec un trait d'union de nos jours mais j'aime mieux l'apostrophe. c'est charmant...#c'est ce qui arrive quand on lit trop de la littérature du XIXe siècle 😩💀#polls#my posts#i know i said i wasn't gonna read les trois mousquetaires but guess who found it at the local bookstore...#voyage au bout de la nuit was just the only french book i could find in a thrift store i was in so i was like okay guess this is mine now#i looked it up and apparently it is super famous. not sure i will enjoy it at all lol#du côté de chez swann is the wrong answer because i feel like i need to read 2000% more of the francophone canon beforehand#that's why i decided to get something by george sand. i was like i can't read proust without any background in sand that would be#fucking cray cray#really dumb reason to read george sand but i did need to read something by her so. gift horse in whose mouth i am not looking

People on here are always talking about Tzimisce fleshcrafters as Vampire Gender Affirming Surgeons but no one ever once mentioned to me that that’s explicitly a canon Thing Thin-Blood Alchemists Can Do??
#it is explicitly stated to create a permanent change even in vampire recipients#and that it has no efffect on the Nosferatu clan bane#rather incorporating a Nos’s Bane into the transformation regardless of their mental image of themselves#and calls out that it does not do non human elements in the transformation#it seems almost explicitly to me to be Potion Of Gender Confirmation Surgery#reading thru the Thin Blood Alchemy section has me like ‘shit maybe I want to try out playing a Thin Blood next’#vtm v5#vampire the masquerade

I love ao3 as the next person, but I'm on germanys side when they banned it, because of the sheer amount of child pornography on the site. (Mind you they distinguish between child (under 14) and youth pornography (14-18), so we're talking VERY young)
I do appreciate that there's a space for people to write freely about whatever they want, and the tags do allow you to avoid fics you don't want to read about, but I still feel sick about what some people write about.
Because why, why are people writing about 4 year olds getting r/ped in graphic detail? Why are people READING about that? What made you look at the tags and think "oh yeah, THAT'S entertainment" ????
Like, sorry, but the only possible reason I can think of is that the people behind it are actually sick and read this because it's arousing to them.
Nowhere on the internet can people post cp so freely, without it literally being illegal.
The fact that tags like "extremely underage" are widely used, is SICKENING. And I know that the site was literally created for writing sick shit, but where does this cross a line? Is it impossible to cross a line on this website?
#ao3#Some of the greatest pieces of fanfiction I read on this side#but often enough I scrolled past 3 fics with cp already before finding it#it's so insane#like I'm sorry but if you enjoy reading that stuff you are vile#and should stay away from children forever#fanfiction#wattpad#just tagging random fandoms nos#harry potter#pjo#atla#supernatural#bts#idk any others right now#oh wait#marvel#mcu#x-men

Being aromantic and finding that out in ur 20s is soooooooo funny bc I met the 3 people I consider my soulmates (one of whom is now my qpp) in october of 2016, and both before and after this i dated a few people but as i grew closer and closer w this group and also came into my gender and sexuality over the yrs, id sometimes wonder why i didnt crave romantic fulfillment anymore, and not fantasize about having a long term bf or anything. It didn't really worry me? Like, I wasn't concerned about it, but I would go like huh wonder what's up w that. Oh well not my problem!, every now and then
And then thru making friends w a bunch of arospec folks I was finally like oohhhhhhhh it's because my emotional fulfillment needs are already met and these people and our friendship is an intrinsic part of my being and i love them more than i can ever hope to describe. Got it!
#and z speaks#its not like i didnt know what aromanticism was! i even id'd as ace for awhile! im not anymore but i was on those fringes right#and its bc im aro in the weirdest way possible#bc i loveeee love and romance and i enjoy dating! sort of!#im one of those ppl that skips right to the old marroed couple phase bc i Hate the casual small talk phase#and i get crushes on my friends a lot bc i have so much love in my heart to give#its just not like. romantic!#if youve read the scholomance trilogy just look at el. thats me#we're aro in the same way#ANYWAY im just thinking about non traditional love and affection and how id let my friend silver do martial arts on me if they werent at the#other end of the state#and how in love i am w my qpp. and my embarrassing crush on [REDACTED bc i KNOW nos js gonna see this. no one can know] is#the worst part about that crush is its probably like glaringly obvious to them and i dont care That much bc having crushes is fun#i dont intend to act on it im just vibing#but the thought. that they might know. little mortifying#if u read all of these tags ur owed financial compensation

ok genuine question i do want your guys' opinions on this
do you think it's worth it for me as a high schooler to read all of narnia when i haven't read it before? is it the kind of book that's only enjoyable if you read it as a kid so when you put on the nostalgia glasses it gets good again? or is it actually worth reading even when i'm older
for some perspective — i love PJO but i would never recc it to someone who hasnt read it by high school because it's just not the right age range anymore. that's the kinda perspective i have rn
#thoughts?#if ppl say yes i will read all/most of them lol i will forcibly make time by ignoring hw#like how im ignoring hw to make a tumblr post rn#nova talks#feel free to send anon yes/nos abt this idc#i was gonna make a poll but then i need to vote in it to see the results and eeeehhhhhh

when u have the time hoc can u tell me more about ospreys :o i think we have some by where i live but i dont know very much ab them
*rubs hands* if you wish...
Ospreys are the only (living) member of the family Pandionidae and genus Pandion. The etymological origins of "osprey" remain obscure, but they're often referred to as "Pandion haliaetus", haliaetus being a mix of the greek roots for sea and eagle.
Which is basically what they are! They're the only hawks that eat fish (they can eat other prey too. Actually there are recorded mentions of ospreys eating a deer because they were hungry). But that alone has made them evolve in such interesting ways they can't really compare. They have closable nostrils. They have reversible toes (only owls can do that). They have a 70% range of success (other hawks can have ONE IN TWELVE success rate, for comparison). There is also this thing which I just learnt but I find it funny.
They also migrate. Seeing you're from the US you have haliaetus carolinensis in your area, those migrate to South America (unless you're in California or Florida because the climate is Just Right for them there and they can't be bothered to leave). Other than that they're creatures of habit- there are osprey nests that are still being used that have over 60 years. Nobody bothers trying to find a new one if you have one right here from dead great great uncle Bill right next to you lol.
They also mate for life! But as with most hawks there are instances of switching mates and even multiple mates. It happens rarely though, which has lead to multiple cultures, such as the Chinese, to see them as a symbol of fidelity.
They're actually one of the most difficult birds to train according to most falconers. Which is ironic because they're also absolute failures and the #1 natural reason for osprey death is them DROWNING before catching the fish.
Have this image from my favourite falconry book of all time. This was the exact moment when little hoc suddenly fell in love with ospreys
#Dakota ^^#asks#the osprey situation is so fucking funny though because it's the only thing i remember from when i was 10 I'm not kidding#(besides being treated like shit by my classmates)#legend says hoc woke up at 5 am and started reading by lamplight and right after finishing the ospreys chapter they went#“oh my!! the sun has risen upon this fine day. i nos shall make myself some nicd breakfa-” and then i got dizzy and fell down the stairs#all 25 of them. at 5 am. and i got brain damage and i got my LONGEST HOSPITAL STAY EVER#I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR AN ENTIRE TRIMESTER AND THEN BEDRIDDEN FOR ANOTHER TRIMESTER#THE PANDEMIC DID **NOTHING** TO ME AND THIS IS WHY
